Its March in north Texas and depending on your actual locale it could be a beautiful spring or the dead of winter. Regardless, there are some important tasks you should be attending to in and for your apiary.
First and probably most importantly your bees are starting to increase their activity in anticipation of spring. They are foraging on warmer days and the queen will be laying for her spring buildup. Please keep you hives fed! I cant stress this enough. Most hives that die do so at this time of year because their stores of food run out. Adding a community feeder for pollen is also recommended.
Second, this is a great time to repair/replace any of your inventory that needs attention. In about a month you will be spending considerably more time with your bees. If you are like me and don't make a full time income from your apiary you have other responsibilities also. Use the time as wisely as you can, your family and your bees will thank you.
Last, I would suggest that you find a nice day and do an initial spring inspection on your hives, if you haven't already. Find out if you have any that need immediate help. I have found hives that are completely out of food and don't have enough bees to forage successfully. This would be a great candidate for a jar feeder or even better a frame of saved honey from the fall. Look for new brood at any stage. Also note their demeanor. This can also give you a clue to how they are doing and if you should look for any other issues.
Have a wonderful spring! If I can be of help please don't hesitate to reach out bee_educated@outlook.com.
